The rich really are different: they don’t lose their shirts when they get divorced. Under California law, Rupert Murdoch could have kissed goodbye half his $6 billion News Corp. empire when he split from his wife, Anna. Though it certainly cost him a pretty penny, he’s retained control of the company–and walked away with girlfriend Wendy Deng, 32, a former executive with Murdoch’s StarTV. Donald Trump got an even better deal. His ex, Marla Maples, reportedly settled for a measly $2 million, chump change to the $5 billion real-estate man. “I decided to move on with my life,” Maples says. At least she’s got decent carfare.

Austin’s Dance Partner

You’ve probably never heard of Marguerite Derricks, but chances are you’ve seen her footwork. Derricks is the choreographer behind both the “Austin Powers” movies and Gap’s swinging go-go ad. She’s been there for the good (two Emmys), the bad (“Striptease”) and the ugly (“Showgirls”). “I didn’t tell her to lick the pole!” says Derricks, 38, who is actually proud of her Vegas period, spoofs included. “When people make fun of me, I take it as a compliment,” says Derricks. No wonder she’s Hollywood’s dance captain.
