Houston outfielder Michael Brantley scorched a ball into the dugout in the bottom of the fifth inning, striking the Minute Maid Park staffer, who sits with the team.
Harris County Emergency Corp CEO Jeremy Hyde released a statement via the Astros.
The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported that the staffer walked into the Houston clubhouse under his own power with a towel over his head. Brantley and other members of the Astros were visibly shaken, as were members of the Yankees.
Rosenthal later reported that the staffer was a paramedic supervisor, and was transported to a local hospital to undergo further tests. Astros pitcher Gerrit Cole was seen outside the clubhouse at his side.
More on this situation as it develops.
