Chris Correa initially was scheduled to be sentenced in a Houston court on April 11, the same day the Astros host the Royals and the Cardinals host the Brewers in their respective home openers.

Now, the Chronicle noted, “the Astros can enjoy the pomp without sharing a news cycle with the perp.”

Correa, a former Cardinals executive, pleaded guilty to five felony counts for hacking into the Astros database. His sentencing will now take place a week later, at 2:30 p.m. ET April 18,  U.S. District Judge Lynn Hughes ordered.

The Astros have an off-day that day; the Cardinals play the Cubs in St. Louis.

Correa faces a maximum penalty on each of the five counts of not more than five years in federal prison and a maximum fine of $250,000, according to the Chronicle, which added that MLB is expected to punish the Cardinals and award the Astros some form of damages after Correa’s sentencing.
