Saturday morning, ESPN’s Brett McMurphy reported the Cougars will interview at least five candidates, including Art Briles.
But for obvious reasons — Briles was fired from Baylor for his involvement and cover up of several sexual assault cases involving football players — Houston athletic director Hunter Yurachek released a statement, explaining the have no plans to interview Briles despite the former Baylor coach’s interest.

But it seems like there was some push-back on Houston’s decision to turn down Briles. According to McMurphy, one Houston board member wanted Briles on the list.
At least he was overruled — any school hiring Briles will have a PR nightmare for a while.
