According to TMZ Sports, AFL commissioner Scott Butera is open to giving Manziel a chance if the former Browns signal caller is willing to recommit to football.

“We could provide a strong platform for him to demonstrate that he is back,” Butera said. “We would also work with him and provide him whatever help he needed to live a healthy life.”

Butera would be taking a risk on Manziel, who is viewed as “radioactive” by NFL teams. Not only does he have the suspension hanging over him, but he’s also in the middle of a legal battle in which he’s accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend.

Manziel recently vowed to stay completely sober beginning July 1 so he can start training for an NFL comeback.
