The Tunnel Fire, which is located around 14 miles northeast of Flagstaff in Coconino County, started on Sunday, April 17 and has since spread rapidly due to “extremely high winds,” the Arizona Emergency Information Network (AEIN) said Tuesday. Officials said the fire is at zero containment as of late on Tuesday, while more than 200 firefighters and personnel are currently assigned to it. One video, captured by Lisa Bussett, shows large quantities of smoke emanating from the fire on April 19 as she drives along a road past a forested area....

People hiking or biking in the White Tank Mountain Regional Park near Phoenix were forced to evacuate on Thursday as a result of the blaze in Area 4. “All of the appropriate response teams are on the scene and working on the wildfire,” Maricopa County Parks officials said in a statement. The park and trails will remain closed throughout May 22. The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management later confirmed the flames were caused by humans and an investigation into the incident has been launched....

Anderson was hired by Arkansas in March 2011. His original seven-year contract ran through 2018. Anderson will continue to earn about $2.2 million annually. The extension will also include a new incentive compensation that will be based on the program’s graduation success rate.
