An Oil Oasis
Begun in the 1970s, the airport radiates out from under a bold, futuristic geodesic dome and is connected to an enormous hexagonal mosque that can accommodate up to 5,000 worshipers, with a courtyard big enough for an additional 4,000. The budget for the entire complex exceeded $3.2 billion, and it took more than 10 years to complete.
